Key Stage 1 ICT

Vision: Technology in Teaching: A Pioneering Learner-Led Faculty.

We want to ensure the use of technology in teaching and learning is at the heart of everything we do. Our extensive curriculum is highly Technical, creative, analytical, practical and up to date.

ICT is a vital subject in helping children understands the digital world around them. Gaining computing skills at MIS will be useful for whatever they do in life and a stepping stone to further develop their ICT skills in the future.

In Years 1 and 2, your child will be taught to:

·         Write stories and communicate with pictorial scenarios.

·         Use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of simple programs using Beebots and maps.

·         Use technology to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content.

·         Recognise common uses of information technology in the wider world using sound, images text and symbols.

·         Use technology safely and respectfully, demonstrating its safe use and organising work in files and folders.

·         Use web-based learning platforms to design real life models of cars, houses, robots and faces.

·         Identify sound and recording devices and its usage since the 20th Century.

·         Use search engines for Cross Curricular studies about ancient civilizations such as Egyptians and Qatar History.

Describe events from the ‘Great Fire of London’ to enhance knowledge, and planning ‘Summer Holidays’, using educational software in a fun and exciting way.
