Key stage 3 History
The study of History at MIS will help
students gain a knowledge and understanding of the worlds past. It will inspire a student’s curiosity to
know more about the past and to aim for an enquiring mind. It will help to make a student ask
perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, put together arguments
and develop perspective and judgement. History will help students understand the
complexity of people’s lives, the process of change and continuity over time
and the diversities of different societies. It will help students understand
different people’s perspectives and experiences over time. It will help students understand the
diversities of societies over time which will help them understand the global
issues of today.
History at MIS will enable students:
To develop an interest in and enthusiasm for learning and
understanding about the past.
To understand how to investigate, use different pieces of evidence
and reach a conclusion.
To present clear and logical arguments.
To understand the methods of historical enquiry and develop the
skills of enquiry.
To understand historical concepts such as change and continuity,
cause and consequence and similarities and differences and to use these to
formulate written narratives and analyses.
