 Key Stage 2

Key Stage 2

Previously laid foundations are built upon in core subjects and independence is encouraged as the children grow into healthy, fit and well-adjusted pupils who enjoy their time at school.

Positions of responsibility are awarded as children become members of School Council and House Captains. Increasingly the pupil voice is heard as these representatives present the views of their peers and organize a range of charity fund raising activities such as “movie night” and bake sales.

Specialist teaching continues in Art, PE, ICT and children begin another Modern Foreign Language in the shape of French.

Children continue to experience extracurricular visits and visitors. Our range expands to include the Museum of Islamic Art, Katara and all its opportunities, Qatar Foundation and exciting visitors such as vets, archaeologists and pearl divers!

The range of after school activities increases to include many more sporting activities such as basketball, tag rugby, tennis and badminton.

Drama, music and art play an important role. Children are given opportunities each year to perform music, singing and drama in front of invited audiences. Art exhibitions are also held in the upstairs art room and examples are  also displayed in the upstairs corridors.

Important preparation for transfer to Senior School takes place. Transition experiences are arranged in Y6 so that this age group can become accustomed to the expectations of the move to the secondary campus.

Ms. L Goodey is the Head of this Key Stage.
